Heather Hall Melaas

Heather Hall Melaas was born and raised in the Houston, Texas area. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas (WHOOP!). While at Texas A&M, Heather was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority where she served as Vice President.

After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Heather began her legal education at South Texas College of Law. Following her first semester in law school, she joined a prestigious Houston trial law firm as a law clerk where she continued throughout the duration of her law school career.

In 2015, Heather completed her Juris Doctor, was admitted to the Texas State Bar, and began her career as an attorney in Houston where she represented plaintiffs in a variety in fields including medical negligence and product liability. Since then, she has gained expertise in civil litigation and trial practice. She has advocated for plaintiffs in numerous jury trials in Harris, Jefferson, and Montgomery counties as well as the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Heather also has extensive experience in the appellate sector, advocating appeals in the First, Fourteenth, and Ninth Courts of Appeals of Texas.

She has been representing clients on property damage claims since 2017 in Texas. In 2019, Heather was admitted to the Florida State Bar and immediately began work continuing to advocate on behalf of policyholders in the State of Florida. In 2021, Heather was licensed in the State of Colorado and has continued her passion working with property owners in The Centennial State.

In addition to her work in the State Courts, Heather has also been admitted to practice at the federal level in the Eastern District of Texas, Western District of Texas, Southern District of Texas, Northern District of Texas, Eastern District of California, District of Arizona, District of Colorado, Middle District of Florida and District of New Mexico.

Because she has demonstrated excellence in the practice of law, Heather has been selected to the Super Lawyers Texas Rising Stars list two years in a row. Super Lawyers recognizes attorneys who have distinguished themselves in their legal practice and this honor is limited to 2.5% of the attorneys within Texas.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband Jared, her son Owen, and their two dogs.
